Our many young families energize all of us! Often our activities are intergenerational. Many more focus on our children and adolescents. We have music and arts for children, Christian formation for all ages and other activities that support families of all ages.
"Godly Play" invites the children into and encourages them to connect with Bible stories. It has sometimes been compared to the adults' Education for Ministry (EFM), also a program at Emmanuel.
Our youth group is growing as well! Knowing there is a "critical mass" which attracts kids, Joshua Shawnee and dedicated parents and lay leaders work directly with the youth in addressing issues that concern them. They are encouraged to take leadership in worship and have vital roles throughout parish life. The youth group has a schedule of special weekends of fun and fellowship --lock-ins, Branson, skiing, and outreach including Habitat projects.
Community
We are a traditional Episcopal community with many opportunities for study which go beyond our traditional roots. Recent studies have included an examination of the Gnostic Gospels, Buddha and Christ, and living out our faith.
We build upon our strong tradition to be a force for God's presence in a 21 st century world.
We are a caring fellowship, within our parish and beyond our doors.
